Boys U15 Repeat as State Cup Champions!!!

The LUSC/FC Greater Londonderry Bolts repeated as State Champions by winning the 2013 Boys U15 State Cup Championship held at the NEAC fields in Pembroke, NH on June 1st.  They earned their way to the championships by defeating all of their opponents in their pool: NHPSA Classics (3-2), Seacoast United Premier (2-0), Lightning SC 97/98 (1-0), and World Cup SC of Greater Nashua (2-1).

The championship match was a repeat against their earlier round foe, Lightning SC, but now in 95 degree heat.  After falling behind 1-0 early, they were able to tie the game before half.  Shortly into the second half Londonderry received a red card, and were required to play short handed for the duration of the game and 30 minutes of overtime.  The team remained tied at the end of the overtime, and went into penalty kicks.  The Bolts led 3-1 in PKS, but Lightning got it to 3-3, requiring the two foes to go to sudden death extra kicks.  Hanover went first and missed.  Londonderry went second and scored, resulting in a team celebration on the pitch.

The win sends the u15 team to the US Youth Soccer Region 1 Championships held at the University of Rhode Island from June 27th- July 2nd.  This is the third championship in four years for this team.
